Commissioned by itv2 as a one-off comedy to front the MOBO Awards, Dropperz was produced by Femi Oyeniran and the late Victor Adebodun under their Purple Geko outfit. It was inspired by blingy music videos where bands show off (and overstate) their riches. Victor also directed several scenes, hence the co-director credit.
